This is an open post, where we would like to invite everyone to come tell us about any good books and short stories you’ve read recently. A good movie you’ve seen. Your favourite television series. An exciting new writer you’ve discovered; best comic book/ graphic novel of the year; must read short fiction anthology or favourite magazine; your favourite anime and manga. A good blog that deserves to be read.

heh, Shakespeare and Kit Marlowe in the same sentence and it’s hard for me not to see their rivalrous friendship from the movie:)
people keep singing Ink and Steel’s praises, it’s becoming a democratically non-negotiable must-read.
Golden Oldies time for me lately—George Martin’s Dreamsongs collection still. Fantastic stuff, the man is such a wonderful storyteller.
JG Ballard’s Empire of the Sun—funny, but it took me ages to get around to reading this because the movie is such a vivid memory. Rather late than never.
And I have to mention Daniel Abraham’s The Cambist and Lord Iron. Already in several Year’s Best volumes, but only read it now and it’s easily my favourite short story of the last year.

I just finished Elizabeth Bear’s Ink and Steel, and it was BRILLIANT.
Set in Queen Elizabeth’s reign, Will Shakespeare and Kit Marlowe encounter the fey in the fight for England’s throne.
Good stuff, that.
